  • Citizens Committee for NYC awards grants to groups of neighbors working collaboratively to improve their communities. The grants are specifically for groups based in low income neighborhoods across the city.

Private Funding

  • ARTHUR VINING DAVIS FOUNDATIONS focused grants in health care on “caring attitudes.”
  • BARKER WELFARE FOUNDATION grants to qualified charitable organizations whose initiatives improve the quality of life, with an emphasis on strengthening youth and families.
  • CAMPBELL FOUNDATION The focus of the Campbell Foundation’s funding lies in alternative, nontraditional avenues of research that will have direct clinical impact/relevancy to the HIV care/research community within five to seven years.
  • Health Impact Project, ROBERT WOOD JOHNSON & PEW CHARITABLE TRUSTS encourages the use of health impact assessment (HIA) to help decision-makers better assess proposed policies, projects and programs with respect to their impact on health, in order that they may avoid adverse health consequences and costs and improve health.
  • HEARST FOUNDATIONS support well-established nonprofit organizations that address important issues within our major areas of interests – education, health, culture, and social service – and that primarily serve large demographic and/or geographic constituencies.
  • LANGELOTH FOUNDATION is interested in projects that seek to improve the physical and mental health of individuals involved in the criminal justice system. Programs focusing on alternatives to incarceration, detention, and reentry will be considered. While the Foundation does not support prevention projects, it is interested in programs that seek to reduce recidivism.
  • PAUL RAPOPORT FOUNDATION focus is on three populations of low or no income: (1) transgender communities of color; (2) LGTBQ youth of color, ages 24 and under; and (3) LGTB seniors of color aged 60 and over.
  • Public Health Law Research, ROBERT WOOD JOHNSON FOUNDATION offers long-term, short-term and rapid-response funding for projects at the intersection of law and public health, but may also draw upon a range of other disciplines, including medicine, economics, sociology, psychology and public policy.
  • ROBIN HOOD FOUNDATION. We find, fund and partner with programs that have proven they are an effective remedy to poverty and are a consistent force for good in the lives of New Yorkers in need.
  • United Way Community Grants - 2011-2012 Community Grants will offer two types of one-time grants that will be awarded through a competitive Request for Proposals process to a limited number of health and human services organizations serving New York City residents: Collaboration Grants will support teams of two or more community-based organizations that seek to create or expand innovative partnerships in order to achieve measurable outcomes. Community Leaders Impact Grants will enable emerging nonprofit leaders to obtain professional development training to better address critical issues impacting their organizations.
  • Women Helping Others (WHO) Foundation nationally supports grass-roots charities serving the overlooked needs of women and children. Specific projects and programs addressing health and social service needs are our priority. The Foundation recognizes the value of new programs created to respond to changing needs and will consider funding projects of an original or pioneering nature within an existing organization.
