The Monroe E. Trout Premier Cares Award is given each year to community agencies and health organizations that support people excluded from, or underserved by, the mainstream health delivery system: farm workers, homeless children, pregnant teens, low-income mothers and infants, individuals who don’t have the strength or means to reach a clinic or hospital.

The award carries a cash prize of $100,000, with an additional $120,000 in cash awards divided among five runners-up. Primary funding for this cash award is provided by Premier.

Entries are accepted each year in July. They are reviewed for completeness and evaluated by a panel of healthcare industry professionals in August. The panel selects semi-finalist entries, which are then reviewed and scored by a panel of healthcare industry leaders in September and October. Finalists are identified and notified in November and December. Entries not selected are also notified by the end of December. The Premier Cares Award recipient is announced from among six finalist entries during a celebration banquet in January. Check out some of our past Premier Cares Award winners.
