Screening, Brief Intervention & Referral for Treatment (SBIRT) for Alcohol & Substance Abuse  is a billable service under Medicaid, Medicare and Commercial Insurance.

SBIRT is an evidence-based practice model which is proven to be successful in modifying the consumption/use patterns of at-risk substance users and in identifying individuals who need more extensive, specialized treatment.

Both time for the screening and several counseling appointments may be reimbursable. For more info on the evidenced based intervention from NYS OASAS website click here
